Biography: Blas Gil Extremera is a Full Professor of Internal Medicine, University of Granada, Spain. Graduate in Medicine from the University of Granada (1968); Doctorate (1973); Postdoctoral fellow at the University of Texas, Huston (1974-75 and 1976-77); Head of Department of Medicine (1986-93); Vice-rector of the University of Granada (1993-96); Chief of the Service of Internal Medicine, Hospital Clínico San Cecilio, Granada (1982-2014); Full professor of Internal Medicine (1991-2014); Silver Medal of University of Granada (1994); Award of Teaching Excellence (2013); Honorary Member of the International Society of Internal Medicine (2004); Member of the Royal Academy of Medicine, Granada; Past-President of Spanish Society of Internal Medicine (1998-2000). He has participated as author at 34 books and monographs, 14 books as unique author, more than 510 articles published, Editorial Board Member of 7 journals and Principal Investigator of numerous clinical trials on Hypertension, Lipid disorders, and Diabetes.
